After Your Permanent Onlay
An onlay covers the chewing surface of your tooth — it's a custom-fit, durable restoration that protects the tooth without the full coverage of a crown. The cement has now fully set.
Quick reference
- Wait until the numbness wears off before eating
- For 24 hours: skip very sticky foods (toffee, caramel, gum) and very hard foods (nuts, hard candies)
- Some mild cold or pressure sensitivity for a few days is normal
- Brush and floss the tooth normally — including the gumline around the onlay
- If the bite feels uneven or 'high', call us so we can adjust it
